How to Save Twitch Content

Streaming has become one of the most popular activities online and watching others play video games has become just as fascinating as playing them yourself. This increased popularity led to platforms like Twitch, which allows users to watch other people play and comment on them. However, there are times when you want to save a streaming from Twitch to be able to view it at a later time or share it with others who didn’t attend the live show. Luckily, it is super easy to Save Twitch content using several different methods.

Twitch provides an automatic archiving feature for past streams called VOD (Video on Demand). This enables a viewer to access an archived version of your stream for 14 days for regular users and affiliates or 60 days for Twitch Turbo, Prime, or Partners gamers. This feature is turned off by default, but you can enable it by visiting your creator dashboard and clicking your profile icon in the top right corner. Then select Creator Dashboard and then Stream and toggle the “Store past broadcasts” switch.

Once your stream has finished, you will find a VOD of it in the Videos section of your channel. You can also access it through the Highlights section of your channel by selecting a past stream and clicking the three-dot menu and then selecting Highlight. Highlights are permanent, but the rest of your VOD will be automatically deleted after 14 or 60 days depending on your subscription.

You can also use a third-party application to download your VODs and highlights. For example, iTop Screen Recorder allows you to record your stream and save it in MP4 format, so you can save it on your computer or mobile device for viewing at a later date. It’s easy to use and doesn’t require any installation or additional software.

Another great tool for downloading your streams is Clipr, a free app that lets you choose the part of your stream that you want to save and then download it directly to your computer or mobile device. You can even select a specific location where you want to save the clip and set a file name. The program is available for Windows and macOS, and it’s easy to set up.

There are other ways to save your Twitch content, but these two options will allow you to keep your most important broadcasts forever. Twitch provides a way to do this for free, but it’s not very user friendly and can lead to cluttered highlight sections for streamers as well as a plethora of clips that viewers may be unable to access. This is why it’s best to use a third-party application for your needs. Just remember that, while you can download your own VODs and Highlights, it’s against the rules to download other streamers’ content without their consent. This is why it’s so important to keep your stream clean and follow all Twitch guidelines. Thankfully, there’s plenty of help and support available to ensure that you have the best possible experience when streaming on Twitch.
